Opposition Leader Visits U.S.

Salome Zourabichvili, leader of the opposition Georgia?s Way party, has left for Washington to address the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe (Helsinki Commission) on February 6. 
 
?I will report on the current situation in Georgia, on previous and forthcoming elections and what particular results we may expect [from the spring parliamentary elections],? Zourabichvili told Mze television on February 4.


Vasil Sikharulidze, Georgia?s Ambassador to the United States, and Matthew Bryza, U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, will also participate in the hearings, entitled ?Georgia in 2008: Elections or Street Politics??


Zourabichvili will also hold talks with U.S. congressmen and diplomats, her party’s press office reported.
