Putin Congratulates Saakashvili on Re-Election

Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Mikheil Saakashvili on his re-election. 

In a letter sent to Saakashvili and posted on the Kremlin website, Putin said he was ?looking forward to constructive developments in relations between our countries.?

Saakashvili said on January 12 that Georgia wanted to improve relations with Russia, adding that he would be happy to have Putin attend his inauguration.

The Russian side said that Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov would instead attend the inauguration on January 20.
