CoE Delegation to Visit Georgia

Members of the Council of Europe’s interim committee of observers will pay a visit to Georgia on December 4-8 ahead of the January 5 presidential elections.


The delegation is expected to meet presidential hopefuls ? Mikheil Saakashvili, Levan Gachechiladze, Davit Gamkrelidze, Shalva Natelashvili, Giorgi Maisashvili. People representing Badri Patarkatsishvili are also scheduled to meet the delegation.


The CoE delegation will also hold talks with Nino Burjanadze, the acting president, Vano Merabishvili, the interior minister, Zurab Adeishvili, the prosecutor general, and other officials.


Talks with the parliamentary majority and opposition factions, as well as the representatives of international and non-governmental organizations are also planned.


The CoE delegations is also expected to meet with Levan Tarkhnishvili, the chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC).
