Tamarasheni Hosts High-Profile Conference

A high-profile conference in the Georgian administered village of Tamarasheni in the South Ossetian conflict zone will be held today to discuss Georgia?s reforms and foreign policy priorities.

Foreign diplomats accredited in Georgia are expected to attend the event. Davit Bakradze, the state minister for conflict resolution issues, said, however, the Russian ambassador, Vyacheslav Kovalenko, had declined an invitation.

Dimitri Sanakoev, the head of the Tbilisi-backed South Ossetian provisional administration, is due to address the participants.

Georgian cabinet members and lawmakers will also participate in the conference, which is taking place the day after the secessionist authorities celebrated the breakaway region?s independence on September 20.
