‘Tbilisi Still Mulls Use of Force’ – Bagapsh Says
Fifteen years after the launch of armed conflict in Abkhazia, the use of force is still an option for Tbilisi, Abkhaz leader Sergey Bagapsh said on August 14.
He was speaking at an event in Sokhumi marking the fifteenth anniversary of the start of hostilities.
“They [Georgians] were killing everyone, of ethnic Abkhaz background,” Bagapsh said. “Our enemy tried to burn down our history and culture, but our people have not knelt down.”
“Unfortunately, even today Georgia is still thinking of resolving the conflict through military means. Unprecedented militarization and on-going provocations only confirm this,” he added.
