Sokhumi Plans TV for Gali

A new television stations will be shortly launched in the predominately Georgian-populated Gali district of Abkhazia, according to the secessionist authorities.

?This project is of strategic importance in terms of integrating the Gali population into the Abkhaz state,? Ruslan Kishmaria, the Abkhaz leader?s envoy in the Gali district, said in comments posted on the Abkhaz leader?s website on July 11.
 
The station will broadcast news programs in Abkhaz, Russian and Megrelian (the latter is spoken mainly in the western Georgian region of Samegrelo).

It will cover the entire Gali district, and parts of western Georgia.
