No Tbilisi-Moscow Charter Flights
Georgian Airways, a Georgian air carrier, failed to launch Tbilisi-Moscow-Tbilisi charter flights on July 3.
The company announced on June 30 that it had a verbal go-ahead from the Russian civil aviation service to launch charter flights during the summer period and an official confirmation was expected by July 2.
?Our representative in Moscow, however, was unfortunately notified today that no confirmation was planned, which demonstrates Russia?s unconstructive stance,? Aka Sanikidze, Georgian Airways? public relations manager, said on July 2.
Russia cut air, sea, land and railway links and postal communication with Georgia last October, following the arrest and subsequent expulsion of alleged Russian spies.
Despite the blockade, and this recent upset, several charter flights, Tbilisi-Moscow-Tbilisi, were arranged for the Christmas and Easter periods.
