Public Transport Fee Hike

Public transport fees ? on the Metro and municipal buses ? double in Tbilisi from July 1.

A one-way bus or metro journey goes from the current 20 Tetri to 40 Tetri (USD 0.24).

Discounts will be available for multiple-ride tickets, which will cost between GEL 20 (USD 12) to GEL 145 (USD 86.3).

The Metro, with 22 stations, carries an average of 301,000 people every day.

Beso Zhgenti, head of the Tbilisi Municipality?s transportation service, said socially vulnerable people, registered in a relevant state-sponsored program, would only pay 10 Tetri for both bus and Metro services.
