Sanakoev Says Water Pipeline Repaired in S.Ossetia
Dimitri Sanakoev, the head of the Tbilisi-loyal South Ossetian provisional administration, said on June 6 that his administration had repaired the damaged water pipeline, which had been at the center of a humanitarian and political crisis in the conflict zone.
?Now it is up to the Tskhinvali-based structures, in charge of water system operations, to restore water supply in Tskhinvali,? Sanakoev said.
The South Ossetian side has yet to comment on the announcement.
Earlier, however, officials in Tskhinvali claimed that their workers had been denied access by the Georgian side to repair the pipeline. They said Tbilisi wanted to give its provisional administration, led by Sanakoev, credit for the repairs.
