Parliament Sets Minimum Gambling Age

Parliament approved with its first hearing on June 6 a proposal setting 21 as the minimum age for gambling.

Casinos, betting shops and other gambling establishments will be fined GEL 1,000 for violating the age restriction.

Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze and some other lawmakers have indicated that they prefer an even tougher law. If this were to happen, the minimum age would probably be 23.
