The new terminal, near the Turkish border, was constructed by the Turkish firm, Tepe-Akfen-Vie (TAV). TAV also built the new terminal at Tbilisi airport. It manages both airports.

The new terminal in Batumi, with a total area of 3,915 square meters, will be capable of handling 600,000 passengers per year.

President Saakashvili said that the new terminal was yet another symbol of friendship between Turkey and Georgia. He vowed to further boost ties between the two countries.
