Solana Hails Georgia’s ‘Pragmatic’ Stance towards Russia

EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana encouraged Georgia “to continue engaging in a pragmatic and constructive manner with Russia, including issues relating to South Ossetia and Abkhazia,” Solana’s press office reported.

The EU foreign policy chief met with Georgian Foreign Minister Gela Bezhuashvili in Brussels on May 15 and discussed issues related to the conflicts, as well as EU-Georgian relations and Tbilisi’s relations with its neighbors.

Solana also welcomed the efforts and progress of the Georgian government in the implementation of the joint Action Plan in the framework of the European Neighborhood Policy, according to the EU foreign policy chief’s press office.
