Estonian President Visits Georgia

Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves started a three-day official visit to Georgia on May 7.


A group of Estonian businessmen are accompanying the president. A Georgian-Estonian business forum will be held in Tbilisi on May 8.


On May 9, President Ilves will visit the Adjaran Autonomous Republic.

In an interview with the Georgian daily, 24 Saati (24 Hours), published on May 7, President Ilves said that the Estonian business people are mainly interested in the Georgian wine industry, construction, real estate and tourism.


In the interview, he also noted that Estonia and Georgia have ?very strong emotional ties.?


?Now you are on the same road, which we have already passed,? the Estonian president said.


He also said that Estonia wanted NATO to launch its Membership Action Plan (MAP) for Georgia as soon as possible.
