Ruling Party, President Discuss Kodori
President Saakashvili met with senior lawmakers from the ruling National Movement party on March 12 to discuss the shelling of upper Kodori Gorge.
?We were unanimous in agreeing that it was an absolutely irrational and psychological attack that resulted in minimal damage – a building was damaged after rocket hit it. We face a quite disorientated and confused rival who is afraid of our progress and trying to undermine our stable international image,? MP Nika Rurua, Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Defense and Security, said.
?We have discussed and analyzed what has happened in upper Kodori Gorge. It was clearly a provocation which, fortunately, posed no threat to civilians,? MP Kote Gabashvili, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Foreign Affairs, said after the meeting.
The Georgian officials said at least three Russian army helicopters entered Georgian airspace late on March 11 from the territory of the Russian Federation and shelled the villages of Chkhalta and Azhara, causing no casualties.
