Kokoity Calls for JCC Session in Tskhinvali

South Ossetian leader Eduard Kokoity called on February 28 for the continuation of the negotiating process in the current quadripartite format, the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee reported on February 28.

He instructed South Ossetian chief negotiator Boris Chochiev to hold consultations with other co-chairmen of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) about holding a plenary session of the JCC in Tskhinvali.

The South Ossetian side has accused Tbilisi of thwarting an informal meeting of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) scheduled in Istanbul for February 28-March 2.

At the same time, official Tbilisi expressed deep regret that the meeting was not held, and expressed readiness for a constructive dialogue.

The recent plenary session of the quadripartite JCC, which involves negotiators from the Georgian, South Ossetian, Russian and Russia?s North Ossetian sides, was held in Vladikavkaz, Russia?s North Ossetia, last October. The meeting failed to yield any results.
