Foreign Minister Meets Georgia’s Diplomatic Corps in Europe
Georgian Foreign Minister Gela Bezhuashvili and State Minister for Euro-Atlantic Integration Issues Giorgi Baramidze met with Georgian Ambassadors accredited to European countries in Vienna on February 12, the Georgian Foreign Ministry reported.
The issues of Georgia’s integration into NATO, prospects for the implementation of the European Neighborhood Policy Action Plan and the enhancement of the diplomatic service’s role in Georgia’s economic development were discussed during the meeting.
“We will continue to implement our commitments to NATO, and we will simultaneously try to establish a desirable political opinion among NATO member states by demonstrating our achievements… This will enable us to move from the Intensified Dialogue towards the Membership Action Plan,” Bezhuashvili said at the meeting.
He noted that in order to settle Georgia’s frozen conflicts peacefully, Georgian diplomacy will focus on the replacement of “ineffective” Russian-led peacekeeping and negotiating formats with “with more effective and result-oriented ones.”
