Kokoity Calls for Resumption of Talks

South Ossetian leader Eduard Kokoity, who is currently visiting Moscow, called on the Georgian side to make the year 2007 as ?a year of making breakthrough in the negotiating process and good neighborly relations.?
 
?I am sending a New Year post card to President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili to wish the Georgian people peace and prosperity,? Eduard Kokoity said at a news conference in Moscow.
 
He reiterated that the South Ossetian side will reduce the armed forces of the breakaway region by 30% as a demonstration of ?good will.?
 
But Georgian State Minister for Conflict Resolution Issues Merab Antadze said on December 20 that South Ossetia?s so called armed forces represent ?illegal groups, which Tbilisi demands to be disbanded.?
