Secessionists MPs Call for International Recognition
Parliamentarians from the breakaway regions of Abkhazia, Transdnestria and South Ossetia called on the international community to recognize their independence and build equal relations with the three breakaway regions, the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee reported on December 18.
The secessionist parliamentarians gathered in Moscow on December 18 at the inaugural session of the Parliamentary Assembly, which was set up by the three breakaway regions in September, 2006.
?We call on the international community to recognize the results of the referendums held in our republics and build relations with the Republic of Abkhazia, Transdnestria and South Ossetia as with independent, sovereign states and equal entities of international relations,? a statement reads.
Meanwhile, in Tbilisi the Georgian Foreign Minister Gela Bezhuashvili called on South Ossetia and Abkhazia on December 18 ?to jointly build our future in the united Georgia.?
