S.Ossetia Alternative Government Seeks Role in Talks
Tbilisi-loyal alternative authorities of South Ossetia, led by Dimitri Sanakoev, want to have a say in the current negotiating process, an official affiliated with Sanakoev said on December 5.
Currently the only negotiating format over South Ossetia is the Joint Control Commission ? a quadripartite body involving negotiators from the Georgian, South Ossetian, Russian and Russia?s North Ossetian sides.
?Although the Georgian side claims that this format is ineffective and demands that it be changed, we think that this format may have more potential, which will emerge after our involvement in the format, at least for a while,? Maia Chigoeva-Tsaboshvili, who is slated to become foreign minister in the alternative government, told Civil Georgia on December 5.
