EU-Russia Summit to Discuss Georgia
The agenda of the top-level EU-Russia summit in Helsinki on November 24 will include the situation surrounding current Russian-Georgian tensions, the EU said in a press release on Thursday.
?The EU has repeatedly urged a de-escalation of tension between Moscow and Tbilisi including the lifting by Russia of measures against Georgia and re-establishing a dialogue with Tbilisi,? the press release reads.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and government officials, including Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, will participate in the summit, where the EU will be represented by Commission President Jos? Manuel Barroso; Finnish Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen; EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana, as well as by Commissioner for External Relations, Benita Ferrero-Waldner and Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson.
