Foreign, Energy Ministers Visit Iran

Georgian Foreign Minister Gela Bezhuashvili and Minister of Energy Nika Gilauri left for Iran on October 22 for a two day working visit, the Georgian Foreign Ministry reported.

Cooperation in energy issues and possibility of import of Iranian gas and electricity during the winter period will be discussed during the talks with the Iranian officials.

Setting up of a Georgian-Iranian intergovernmental economic commission is also scheduled to be discussed.

Foreign Minister Bezhuashvili will most likely hold talks over possible visit of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to Georgia.

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili invited his Iranian counterpart to pay an official visit during the meeting on September 20 on a sideline of the UN General Assembly Session in New York.
