U.S. Official Visits Georgia

Daniel Fried, the U.S. Department of State Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs, will visit Tbilisi October 17-19, the U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi reported.

During his visit, Assistant Secretary Fried will meet with President Saakashvili, Prime Minister Nogaideli, Foreign Minister Bezhuashvili, Parliamentary Chairperson Burjanadze, and other government officials.

He will discuss U.S. support for Georgia?s democratic reforms, including the recent October 5 local elections, Georgia?s entry into an Intensified Dialogue with NATO, and ongoing steps to peacefully resolve the separatist conflicts of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, according to the U.S. Embassy.
