Minister: Italy Supports MAP for Georgia

Italy will support Georgia?s invitation to enter NATO?s Membership Action Plan (MAP) at the summit in Riga this November, Giorgi Baramidze, the State Minister for Euro-Atlantic Integration Issues, told the daily 24 Hours (24 Saati) after paying a working visit to Italy.

?It is very important to strengthen our [international] position in respect of NATO integration. [Italian] Defense and Foreign Ministers, as well as chairmen of three parliamentary committees have confirmed that Italy will support approval of MAP for Georgia,? the 24 Hours quoted Baramidze on July 15.
