S.Ossetia Protests Relocation of Georgian Checkpoint
The South Ossetian side expressed protest regarding the relocation of a Georgian police checkpoint near the South Ossetian village of Prisi on June 14, the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee reported.
The South Ossetian side claims that the relocation of this checkpoint now allows the Georgian police to block the road to the village of Prisi.
Georgian Interior Minister Vano Merabishvili confirmed on June 15 that the checkpoint was relocated, citing this measure as the necessity ?to protect the local population.?
According to the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee, a group of local residents of Prisi held a rally outside the OSCE office in Tskhinvali, protesting against the relocation of the checkpoint.
