Russia Pulls Out ‘GRAD’ Missiles from Akhalkalaki Base

28 trucks, a field kitchen and 372 boxes of “Grad” system 122 mm BM-21 missiles were withdrawn from the Akhalkalaki military base on May 23 and moved to Tsalka, in the Kvemo Kartli region.
 
From Tsalka the Russian military equipment will be loaded on train and taken to the Russian Federation via Azerbaijan, the Georgian Defense Ministry reported.
 
The next stage of pullout from the Russian military base in Akhalkalaki will be carried out on May 30.


The base-pullout process should be completed in Akhalkalaki before December 31, 2007, according to a March 31 Georgian-Russian agreement.
