U.S. Congressional Delegation Visits Georgia
U.S. Congressman Jim Kolbe, Chairman of the House of Representatives Appropriations Subcommittee for Foreign Operations, will head a congressional delegation on a visit to Georgia on April 8-10, the U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi has reported.
The delegation also includes Congressman Scott Garrett, Chief Executive Officer of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Ambassador John Danilovich, MCC Eurasia Managing Director Frances Reid, MCC Senior Legislative Officer Jacob Stefanik, and Deputy Director of the Navy House Liaison Office CDR Ben Pearson.
At talks with President Saakashvili, Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli and Parliamentary Chairperson Nino Burjanadze, the delegation will discuss issues related to governance, as well as economic and military developments.
PM Noghaideli and MCC chief executive John Danilovich will announce the MCC’s “Entry into Force” on April 9.
On April 10, the delegation will visit Krtsanisi Training Area to get familiar with the progress made on the U.S.-funded Sustainment and Stability Operations Program (SSOP) for the Georgian army.
