Justice Ministry Unveils Names of Inmates Killed in Riot

On March 28 the Georgian Justice Ministry posted on its web site a list of those seven inmates who died in a Tbilisi prison riot early on March 27.
 
The Ministry also posted on the names and whereabouts of those 18 injured inmates, who are undergoing medical treatment at various hospitals.
 
Meanwhile, a group of lawyers representing the interests of inmates in Tbilisi’s 5th prison staged a protest rally outside the Justice Ministry on March 28 demanding access into the prison to get information about their clients, as is envisaged by the law. After talks with Justice Minister Gia Kavtaradze, the lawyers announced that the Ministry will let them into the prison.
