JCC over South Ossetia Meets in Vladikavkaz
Negotiators from the Georgian, South Ossetian, Russian and Russia’s North Ossetian sides will meet in Vladikavkaz, the capital of North Ossetia on March 27-28 at a session of the Joint Control Commission (JCC).
The Georgian side will reportedly push the issues related with demilitarization of the South Ossetian conflict zone and setting up a special commission for implementation of Tbilisi’s peace plan on South Ossetia.
The Russian, South Ossetian and North Ossetian negotiators will apparently push the issue of development of a new, as Russia calls it, “joint Georgian-Ossetian action program” on conflict resolution. They will also put forth an issue of development of a joint Georgian-Ossetian declaration on non-resumption of hostilities.
Economic rehabilitation projects of the conflict zone will also be discussed during the JCC session.
The Russian delegation will be led by new chief negotiator for South Ossetian issues, Russian Foreign Ministry’s special envoy Yuri Popov, who has recently replaced Valery Kenyaikin on this position.
