OSCE Officials Visit Tskhinvali

Special Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office – Senator Pierre Chevalier, accompanied by Head of the OSCE Mission in Georgia Roy Reeve and other representatives from the organization, held talks with Deputy Chairman of the breakaway South Ossetian government and chief negotiator Boris Chochiev in Tskhinvali, South Ossetian capital, on March 13.

According to the South Ossetian Press and Information Committee, the sides discussed the issues of peaceful settlement of the conflict and the current situation in the conflict zone.

“The South Ossetian side insistently demands immediate holding of the Joint Control Commission [JCC] session to set up joint working groups and develop joint plans, since the plan, which is prepared unilaterally [by the Georgian side], cannot become the basis for further activities. It is also necessary to organize a meeting of top leaders and Interior Ministers of the four sides [Georgian, Russian, South Ossetian, North Ossetian] with the participation of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office [Belgian Foreign Minister Karel De Gucht],” Boris Chochiev said.
