17 Ethnic Georgians Detained in Gali District

Abkhaz militiamen detained 17 ethnic Georgians in the Gali district of breakaway Abkhazia because they refused to serve in the Abkhaz army. Reportedly, all of them were taken to the Abkhaz capital Sokhumi.

Deputy governor of the Gali district Tornike Kilanava told reporters on December 14 that the young men were taken by force and their fate and exact whereabouts remains unknown.
