Georgian Economy Minister Visits Hong Kong

Georgian Economy Minister Irakli Chogovadze left for Hong Kong, China on December 12 to participate in the Sixth World Trade Organization (WTO) Ministerial Conference scheduled for December 13-18.

According to the Georgian Economy Ministry, Irakli Chogovadze plans to push the issue of deploying Georgian customs officers at the Roki tunnel, which links breakaway South Ossetia with the Russian Federation, as well as at the Adleri-Leselidze border checkpoint in breakaway Abkhazia.

Earlier the Georgian Minister said that Russia will have to meet a number of Georgia?s demands if Moscow wants to secure Tbilisi?s consent on Russia?s membership into the World Trade Organization (WTO).

All decisions regarding a country?s WTO membership have to be agreed upon by consensus among all member states.
