South Ossetian Police Official Sentenced to Pretrial Custody
The Tbilisi City Court sentenced Viacheslav Kudziev, Deputy Chief of Police of the Ossetian village Artsevi in the South Ossetian conflict zone, to three-month pretrial detention on December 8.
Viacheslav Kudziev was arrested by the Georgian Military Police near the Georgian village of Ergneti. The Georgian side claims that he is engaged with a criminal group counterfeiting US dollars.
Kudziev was injured in a shootout with a unit from the Georgian Military Police and was hospitalized with a leg injury. Today?s trial was held at the military hospital in Tbilisi.
