Governor of the western Georgian region of Imereti Akaki Bobokhidze filed his resignation on December 2 after an incident with journalist Irakli Imnaishvili, which took place at the regional television station Rioni on December 1.

The debates on the local television talk-show between the Imereti Governor and journalist Irakli Imnaishvili, a former anchor of the currently halted political talk-show previously aired on Mze television, escalated into a fist-fighting after the talk-show was over.

Bobokhidze said at a news briefing on December 2 that he made two ?correct decisions? ? one was his resignation and the other – ?defending dignity.?

Akaki Bobokhidze, former majoritarian MP from the Khoni district in Imereti was appointed to the position of Governor in August.
