Saakashvili Optimistic About Georgia’s NATO Aspirations
Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili told a group of foreign reporters on November 23 that Georgia will become a member of “NATO during my presidential term,” Reuters reported
Saakashvili’s first presidential term ends in 2009.
Georgian State Minister for Euro-Atlantic Integration Giorgi Baramidze said on November 22, while addressing a high-profile forum in Tbilisi, that Georgia is in a hurry to implement its reform targets outlined by the Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) with NATO, in order “to catch the train” by 2008, when a NATO summit will discuss the possible enlargement of the alliance.
