Georgian PM: Kosovo Case not Applicable to South Ossetia

Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli said on November 22 that even if the international community recognizes Kosovo?s independence, this precedent can not be applicable to Georgia?s breakaway South Ossetia.

?The Kosovo precedent can not really apply to South Ossetia. This [region] is kind of a chessboard ? there is Georgian village, then there is Ossetian village, then again Georgian village and so on. So it can not apply to Georgia unless somebody is seriously thinking to cleanse this region from Georgians, which I don?t really think is going to happen and I do not think we are going to allow it happen,? PM Nogaideli said.

He was speaking, while answering the question at the Tbilisi Forum “Europe’s New Wave of Liberation,? which marks the second anniversary of the Georgia?s Rose Revolution.
