Russian Diplomat Skeptical over Tbilisi’s South Ossetian Action Plan

Russian Ambassador to Georgia Vladimir Chkhikvishvili said on November 1 that the ‘three-stage’ plan over resolution of the South Ossetian conflict proposed by Tbilisi last year is more realistic than the Action Plan offered by the Georgian side recently at the OSCE Permanent Council in Vienna on October 27.

“We think that the three-stage plan by the Georgian President over a peaceful resolution of the conflict, proposed in New York [last September at the UN General Assembly] is much more realistic than the proposal to solve the problem within a year [referring to an action plan proposed by Georgian PM Nogaideli at the OSCE Permanent Council]. These kinds of conflicts can not be solved within one year,” the Russian diplomat told reporters in Tbilisi before meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister of Georgia Merab Antadze.
