South Ossetia Holds Maneuvers

500 serviceman from the breakaway South Ossetian Defense Ministry are taking part in military exercises, which were launched in South Ossetia’s Java district on July 5, the unrecognized republic’s Press and Information Committee reported.

Java, which is regarded as a stronghold for the South Ossetian militia groups, lies beyond the zone of responsibility of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces, which involve Georgian, Russian and Ossetian servicemen.
