Abkhaz Railway Talks Start in Gali

The Abkhaz, Georgian and Russian sides are holding talks in the Gali district of breakaway Abkhazia on July 2 to discuss issues related to the rehabilitation of the Abkhaz portion of the Russo-Georgian railway.
 
State Minister for Conflict Resolution Issues Giorgi Khaindrava leads the Georgian delegation, while the Abkhaz side is represented by de facto Vice-Premier Leonid Lakerbaia. Officials from the Russian railway company are also participating in the talks.


During talks in Moscow on June 15-16 the sides agreed to launch an assessment of the current condition of the Abkhaz railway before July 15.


According to the press office of the State Minister for Conflict Resolution Issues, the sides will also discuss the issue of the security of a joint working group, which will assess the condition of the railway, during the talks in Gali.
