Gazprom Plans to Increase Gas Price for CIS Countries
Chairman of the Russian energy giant Gazprom Alexei Miller said on June 24 that the company will increase the price of gas for the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) starting from 2006, RIA Novosti news agency reported.
He did not specify what the new price will be, but unofficial reports say that Gazprom plans to raise the price up to USD 70 per 1000 cubic meters. Currently Georgia pays Gazprom USD 60 per 1000 cubic meters of gas.
Unofficial reports also say that this increase in price will not be enforced in Belarus or Armenia.
Miller also said that Gazprom will make all energy transactions solely with hard currency and abandon all barter arrangements.
