Okruashvili: Georgia Plans to Apply for NATO MAP Next Autumn
Georgian Defense Minister Irakli Okruashvili said, while speaking at the Statesmen?s Forum at the Washington-based Center for Strategic and International Studies on June 16, that Georgia plans to apply for a NATO Membership Action Plan (MAP) in autumn, 2006, after the implementation of those reform targets which are set by the NATO Individual Partnership Action Plan.
?IPAP is a very important step forward to integrate our country into the western institutions. This is a really big chance for us to move to the Membership Action Plan (MAP), which we are planning to apply for next year – next autumn. This is a very ambitious goal; but again, I have already mentioned that we are in a hurry and we should do our best to show progress,? Irakli Okruashvili said.
