New President of Football Federation Elected

Nodar Akhalkatsi was elected as the new President of the Georgian Football Federation (GFF) on June 11 for a two-year term.

The early elections of the new President follow the arrest of ex-President Merab Zhordania on April 7, on financial misappropriation charges.

Nodar Akhalkatsi was the only contender after three GFF presidential nominees ? Revaz Arveladze, MP Vladimer Gutsaev and Giorgi Nemsadze withdrew their candidacies three days ahead of the elections.
