Air Traffic Controller Training Center to be Established
The Georgian Air Navigation authority and the British Astac International Ltd. agreed to establish a joint training center for air traffic controllers. The center will be housed in a new building which is now being constructed. It is expected that the center will be equipped with state-of-the-art training and air traffic simulation equipment.
Astac Ltd is a company specialising in the provision of aviation training. Its core business is training Air Traffic Control Officers and it is accredited by the United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority and ICAO to deliver ATC training.
The company has its headquarters in Rudloe College, near Bath in the UK. It also operates a second center in Almaty, Kazakhstan. When opened, the Georgian center is likely to also train controllers from the neighboring countries of the South Caucasus, and perhaps also from Turkey and Iran.
