South Ossetian Official Comments on Abduction Incident
Interior Minister of breakaway South Ossetia Mikhail Mindzaev said on June 8, while commenting on the recent abduction incident in the South Ossetian conflict zone, that the Georgian and South Ossetian law enforcers are jointly working to ascertain the whereabouts of four Georgians who disappeared on June 6.
The South Ossetian de facto Interior Minister said that the South Ossetian law enforcement agencies are in full control of the situation, however ?the crime situation still remains difficult due to provocative actions” stemming from Tbilisi.
This statement hints at a recent statement made Georgian Deputy Interior Minister Bidzina Bregadze, who said on June 8 that the South Ossetian de facto authorities have failed to control the crime situation in the region.
?I announce, with full responsibility, that the law enforcement agencies control the situation in the [unrecognized] Republic. In reality, the situation remains tense only in the Georgian villages,? the Press and Information Committee of breakaway South Ossetia quotes Mindzaev as saying.
