Ukraine Seeks to Involve Turkey into GUAM

Ukrainian President Victor Yushchenko, who paid an official visit to Turkey on June 6-8, offered his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Necdet Sezer to act as a permanent observer in GUAM ? a grouping of Georgia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Moldova.


According to the Ukrainian President?s press office, Victor Yushchenko stressed that the organization focuses on implementation of joint energy projects in the Caspian and Black Sea basins and settlement of border conflicts in the Caucasus and Transdnestria.


?Naturally, Turkey can take active position in solving these issues,? the Ukrainian President?s press office reports.
