Bagapsh Meets Finnish Ambassador to South Caucasus
President of breakaway Abkhazia leader Sergey Bagapsh held talks with Ambassador of Finland to Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan Terhi Hakala on June 7 in Sokhumi, Abkhaz news agency Apsnipress reported.
On the eve of Finland’s chairmanship in the European Union in the second half of 2006, the Finnish Ambassador showed interest in the position of the Abkhaz authorities regarding the implementation of EU post-conflict rehabilitation projects in the region.
The President of breakaway Abkhazia briefed the Ambassador over the position of the Abkhaz authorities regarding the conflict resolution. Sergey Bagapsh reiterated that the Abkhaz people has already made its choice at the referendum in favor of independence.
