Bagapsh Demands to Ensure Security of Locals in Gali

Abkhaz leader Sergey Bagapsh, Prime Minister Alexander Ankvab, accompanied by other senior officials of the breakaway region?s government, visited Abkhazia Gali district on June 1, which is predominantly populated by the ethnic Georgians, Abkhaz news agency Apsnipress reported.

During the visit the President of breakaway Abkhazia said that ensuring security of the local population, ?which suffer from bandits of different nationalities,? should be a top priority.

?Gali district is integral part of Abkhazia. Residents of Gali district are our citizens and our laws should protect them,? Bagapsh said.

According to the Apsnipress, Sergey Bagapsh instructed Interior Minister Otar Khetsia to put an end to crimes committed against the local population by the representatives of the law enforcement agencies.
