Abkhaz Government-in-Exile Appoints Envoy in Kodori Gorge

Chairman of the Tbilisi-based Abkhaz government-in-exile Irakli Alasania appointed Mevlud Jachvliani as his representative in the Kodori gorge, which is the only territory in breakaway Abkhazia under Tbilisi?s control.

This newly created position replaced the previous one ? the Georgian President?s Envoy to the Kodori gorge – which was held by Emzar Kvitsiani. The latter was dismissed last December and the position was abolished. As a result, the governance of Kodori gorge was transferred to the Tbilisi-based Abkhaz government-in-exile.

Reportedly, Mevlud Jachvliani served in the Georgian Border Guard Department before his new appointment.
