Chief of State Forensic Department Shot Dead

Chief of the State Forensic Examinations Department of the Georgian Justice Ministry Levan Samkharauli was shot dead when a gunman opened fire on his car in the eastern Georgian town of Kvareli on May 22. Samkharauli?s companion in the car was also wounded.

According to the Georgian media reports the person who allegedly shot at Samkharauli?s car committed suicide following the event. The motives behind this assassination are not known yet.

?It is too early to talk about the motives,? Giorgi Janashia, the Deputy General Prosecutor, said.
