Abduction Reported in Gali District
Three Georgians have been kidnapped in breakaway Abkhazia?s predominately Georgian-populated Gali district, Kakha Ardia, governor of the Samegrelo region said on May 19
He said that one of them was released shortly after the abduction, while the two others remain in captivity.
The Samegrelo Governor also said that ?ransom, or disputes between the criminal gangs? might be motives behind this abduction, which occurred in the village of Nabakevi.
The case was discussed at the weekly quadripartite meeting of representatives from the Russian peacekeepers, UN observers, and the the Georgian and Abkhaz sides in the village of Chuburkhinji, in the Gali district, on May 19.
Georgian officials say that the Abkhaz side expressed its readiness to cooperate with the Georgian side in investigating this abduction case.
