Crisis Management Group to Tackle Floods in Western Georgia
Special crisis management teams have been set up in western Georgia to assess the damage caused by heavy rains and floods in a number of western Georgian districts. The authorities have also mobilized reserve forces to involve them in relief activities.
Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Nogaideli will visit the flood-stricken regions on April 26.
No casualties have been reported, but the floods have damaged houses, roads and bridges in Racha-Lechkhumi, the Kvemo Svaneti regions, as well as in Tskaltubo, Khoni, Tsageri, Lentekhi, Oni and several districts of Kutaisi. 30 families were evacuated from the Ambrolauri district. Landslides have also been reported in several districts.
